We had a good number of attendees from marae representatives, hapū members and our local community and whānau, who I’d like to thank for coming along at such short notice of two days. A big thank you to you all.

I would also like to acknowledge Ngāti Kahu and Te Rarawa, who currently have rāhui on in their takutai, for coming down to give their tautoko. Nga mihi aroha kia koutou for sharing with us your knowledge and experiences on your journeys so far.

A big thank you to Ken Grange (marine biologist) for sharing his scientific knowledge with us on this journey. Nga mihi Ken.

Karangahape Marae, with support from Tahaawai, Te Patunga, Te Huia, Otangaroa, Waitaruke and Taupō marae are inviting all that would like to attend the karakia service at 6am this Saturday, January 16, to be part of laying the rāhui on our scallops in Whangaroa Harbour, from Whangaihe to Ririwha and Taupō Bay in Whangaroa by the Pou of Te Wahapu o Whangaroa to open the rahui.

Other coastal marae and hapū need to speak with their marae and hapū, and will come back to us when they have had their korero if they would like to include their areas as well.

Once again, nga mihi to all in attendance, and see you all on Saturday morning.

Our actions of today will be for the future of our tamariki/mokopuna.

It’s not a vaccine

The word ‘vaccine’ originates from the Latin variolae vaccinae (cowpox), which Edward Jenner demonstrated in 1798 could prevent smallpox in humans. Today the term vaccine applies to all biological preparations, produced from living organisms, that enhance immunity against disease and either prevent (prophylactic vaccines) or, in some cases, treat disease (therapeutic vaccines).

We read that Dr David Martin is quoted as saying, on January, 5, 2021 (Focus on Fauci event), that the new mRNA one is being called a vaccine to “sneak” it under public health (our interpretation: liability) exemptions.

“It is a chemical pathogen device that is actually meant to unleash a chemical pathogen production action within a cell. It is a medical device, not a drug, because it meets the CDRH definition of a device. It is not a living system, it is not a biologic system, it is a physical technology — it happens to just come in the size of a molecular package.

“This is mRNA … It is a medical device designed to stimulate the human cell into becoming a pathogen creator. It is not a vaccine. Vaccines actually are a legally defined term under public health law; they are a legally defined term under CDC and FDA standards. And the vaccine specifically has to stimulate both the immunity within the person receiving it and it also has to disrupt transmission.

“… they (Moderna and Pfizer) have been abundantly clear in saying that the mRNA strand that is going into the cell is not to stop the transmission, it is a treatment.”

As a treatment, we could then reasonably ask, what other treatments are there? Many doctors are successfully healing patients with other treatments.

Therefore, under the Nuremburg Code, we have the human right to refuse to undergo any state-mandated medical treatment for Covid-19 and choose our own prophylactic or healing treatments, with absolutely no punishments or restrictions to our liberties.

Make or break

A correspondent to the Northland Age wrote of the bad state some sections of the public in Rotorua are in. I know this is so, as I have family there.

I fear there are some people all over New Zealand living very deprived lives caused by the well known booze and drugs, deprived backgrounds, poor diet and missed education syndrome. One effective way of breaking the cycle would be to increase primary school funding by three times or more:
