Visit art exhibitions

Central Otago and Wanaka are havens for artists, and a wide range of artworks is available.

The long weekend is the perfect opportunity to visit some of the exhibitions on offer.

Arts Central Exhibition — ACE’22

Arts Central Exhibition — ACE’22 is a showcase of visual artworks made in the Cromwell Basin and surrounding region.

The exhibition features not only established practitioners but also budding artists yet to make their mark on the world.

As well as traditional mediums, jewellery, wood making and textiles are on offer.

Entry to the exhibition is free, although a gold coin donation is appreciated, and COVID-19 guidelines will be in place. ACE’22 is at The Gate Conference Centre, in Cromwell, from tomorrow, Good Friday, to Monday.

The exhibition is open from 10am to 4pm.

Central Otago Art Society Annual Easter Art Exhibition

The Central Otago Art Society runs the annual Art in the Lodge Easter Cash and Carry Exhibition in the township of Historic Clyde.

Artists will be exhibiting and selling their work throughout the duration of the show.

The exhibition is being held at the Dunstan Masonic Lodge in Sunderland St, Clyde from today to Monday and entry is a gold coin.

Looking for some fast action?

Central Motor Speedway in Cromwell is holding the 2022 Easter Champs and War of the Wings sprint cars events tomorrow, Good Friday, and on Sunday.

Dust will fly and adrenaline-pumping action is guaranteed.

Gates open at 2pm and racing starts at 4pm.

The reason for the season

Much of the Christian faith is anchored on the message of Easter.

This weekend churches throughout the region are commemorating Easter with services on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
