Annual trotting meet a great family day out

With the meeting held on the grass track, it gives spectators a chance to get up close and personal to the racing action

Plus enjoy watching some of Canterbury’s top drivers compete throughout the day on the 11 race programme.

After ‘no public on course’ last year due to COVID restrictions, the Amberley committee is determined to welcome the public back on course with an entertaining and fun-filled family day. It is free entry again this year.

Racing starts at around 12 noon and the stakes on offer means there is once again strong fields.

The feature race is the 2023 Rangiora Equine Services Amberley Cup.

There is also plenty of entertainment and competition.

There will be two heats of the ever-popular Kids Carts races for up and coming young drivers in Canterbury, and there is plenty happening of course too.

In the Amberley Junior Drivers kids area, children’s entertainer Neville Barry will put on his popular show.

There will be a bouncy castle, lolly scramble, tug of war and running races, all free.

The Lucky Horseshoe draw is back, where 15 lucky children will be drawn throughout the day, and then have the chance to win some brilliant prizes, such as a boys and girls bike for the under 5s and a UE boom for the older kids.

Adults don’t miss out either with their chance to win a TV and soundbar, along with four other fantastic prizes in the ‘Telfers Mystery Envelope’.
