Buller council seeks outcome for McAuley unit tenants

Acting group manager community services Krissy Trigg says: "The lease agreement for the land was signed 40-years ago between the Westport Borough Council and the archbishop and will expire in November."

The land and all improvements, including the 12 senior units, will transfer back to the archbishop unless a new arrangement is agreed to by both parties before the lease ends.

Ms Trigg says: "We have been in talks with the with the archbishop's local representatives from St Canice's parish since early this year and hope to come to a resolution soon so we can give assurance and security to our senior housing tenants.
