Katikati and the Western Bay of Plenty are home to a fantastic array of volunteer organisations, from our firefighters and St John crews to heritage and conservation groups, and everyone in between. Volunteering is often a thankless task which requires giving up time with family and friends. Whether it’s a couple hours a week or a lifetime of service, I’m grateful to all our volunteers because our communities simply wouldn’t be the same without them

When we look at the statistics, it becomes evident volunteering is definitely a key part of who we are as New Zealanders.
