Bonmalais displayed terrific movement throughout the contest and made it difficult for Coll to hit winners.

After Coll secured the opening game 11-8, Bonmalais started to step up the court in the second game and take more volleying opportunities to impose his own pressure on Coll.

Bonmalais earned himself four game balls and looked sure to equalise at 1-1. Coll remained focused and played out six quality rallies to steal the second game and take a 2-0 lead.

Bonmalais looked like he had run out of steam in the third game as the New Zealander booked his place in another quarterfinal in New York.
