Collie club trials will be loud 100-year celebration

A community celebration at the dog trial grounds on Saturday would kick things off. Everyone in the St Bathans community and anyone who had been involved with the club was welcome.

Five life members, including 95-year-old Jim Morgan, of Omakau, would be at the community event sharing their memories of trials.

It was likely to get rowdy as the committee was holding a bark up competition.

People were encouraged to bring their dog, of whatever sort, and have a go. There would be prizes for adults and children, she said.

During the trials the shepherds would get a work out in a musters’ race.

The humans would race from the cookhouse up to the top of the zig-zag course and back.
