The Redruth St vehicle repair and paint shop was set up in 2010, and Patrick bought the business in 2012

‘‘I was working in sandblasting, mostly with trucks, but I’d been building my own cars for a long time and that’s always been my passion,’’ he said.

Even at school he’d been into doing up bikes, sanding them down, painting them and applying stickers before selling them or trading them with his mates for radio-controlled cars and other sought-after items, so it was a natural progression to move on to working with cars.

‘‘My first paint job was on a Mini in our backyard when I was 17. That’s where it all started,’’ Patrick said.

Since buying Autotech Panel & Paint, Patrick has grown the business to employ five staff, who include two of his brothers.

‘‘We all love what we do and take pride in our workmanship. This isn’t just a job to us.’’
