All roof trusses are made to measure using computer generated files, says manager Simon Barber."The file of specific trusses are fed to the computer which sets the angles and specifications for the cuts. We have a variety of saws which are set at angles from the computer files. Depending on what specifications are on file, a variety of trusses can be made depending on the builder's requirements

"The pre-cut timber is placed on the large truss jig and the camber is set and pucks tightened to hold the truss in place.

The timber used is predominantly LVL (laminated veneer lumber), which is straighter, stronger and overall a better product, with less defects than regular framing timber. Gang nails (nail plates) are attached to the truss joints and pressed in place by a large hydraulic press. With house construction at a premium right now, the availability of the Mitre 10 Mega roof truss product is welcome news for builders, Mr Barber says.
