About 60 competitors from associations and friendship groups from Milton, Balclutha, Clinton and the Catlins formed teams to clock up points in 15-minute netball, ball-darts, quoits, skittles, and Twister events

Clinton School principal Karin Hopkins accompanied volunteer years 6, 7 and 8 pupils helping out as lines-people and score-keepers.

‘‘It’s a great opportunity for young people to learn about giving back and paying forward — people contribute to their communities over lives and generations,’’ Mrs Hopkins said.

Key co-ordinator Katrina Goodman had to shout over cheers and clapping from the competitors in Clinton Community Hall.
