March 1 saw 37 members participate in round one of the Nancy McCormick Foursomes Nett. This was played on the Tauhara course in warm sunny conditions

Best nett result went to Bar Hoadley and Sally Mansell scoring 65, Viv Nyssen and Chris Thomson were second with 69.8, Fran Fuller and Carol Taylor were third with 70.8, Adele Keene and Michelle Hickman were fourth with 71.05 and Marlene Nitschke and Sharon Wiggins were fifth with 72.6.

Sharon Bertram won the Columbus Cafe NTP on hole 16 and Chris Thomson won the Cafe Lacus NTP on hole 17. The 2 Mile Bay Sailing Club Raffle was won by Casey Bainbridge.

Tūrangi Veterans

A good field for the first day of March. Tom Rihia came first on 21, then Dave Hawke on 20. Julie McCarthy on 19 from a c/b from Anne Murray and Kevin Giles. Next came Diana Pye 17 on c/b from Alistair Baldwin and Dennis Butterworth.

Taupō Veteran Wome

Fran Fuller and Yvonne Raureti-Carson scored stunningly well during Thursday’s nett competition on the Tauhara Course at the Taupō Golf Club. With scores of nett 62 (10 under) and nett 64 (8 under) respectively, in superb conditions, they blitzed the field of 35.

Dot Hare 67, Lynne Bowden 69, Barbara Brunner 70. The top five players won vouchers and balls went to Jenny Cory 70, Judy Nairn 70, Adele Keene 71, Viv Wrathall 72, Tracy Hansard 72, and Sally Parker 72.

Elaine Burchmore, who had lost on the countback with 72, was lucky enough to win the Liquorland Bubbles with a mystery hole card draw. Nearest to the Pins: Hole 16 Tracy Hansard and hole 17 Lynne Bowden. Longest putt and winning the Tremains towel was Anna Reece.

New veterans member and winner of the lucky card draw was Jenny Williams.

Feburary Player of the Month was Suzanne Reed, winning a bottle of wine from Property Pampering and Maintenance and a Cossie Club voucher. Suzanne totalled 139 with nett scores of 67 and 72.

Taupō Veteran Men

On March 2, 43 players competed in a teams stableford on Tauhara recording the best three stableford points of four on each hole.

The winning team of Dick Fraser, Dennis Tito, Hamish Robertson and John Gilbert scored 129 points.

Pat White,Colin Crowe,Craig Greenwood, Brian Macken 127. Ted Swanney, Tony Seavill, Martin Bull, Doug Cullen, making up the Top Dogs, 124. Hayden Baker, Tom Sainsbury, Dennis O’Callaghan and Colin Light 118. Selwyn McLennan, Titch Snyman, Gordon Harvey, Malcolm Munro and Les Wraight and team 115.
