Kaiapoi storywalk proves a hit

The new bilingual walk, which was officially unveiled last Saturday morning during a community planting day, recounts the story of There’s a Tui in our Teapot/ He Tūī kei rō Tīpata, by Dawn McMillan and illustrated by Nikki Slade Robinson. It features 15 small billboards installed along the trail winding through the forest

The new storybook walk was organised by the Waimakariri Libraries and the Waimakariri District Council greenspace team. It features text in English and Maori and was part of the libraries’ events celebrating the recent Maori Language week.

It is the second storybook walk to be installed in Waimakariri. The first was in the Northbrook Wetlands Park, in Rangiora.

That installation has now been removed and the Honda Forest storybook walk will also eventually be removed as both were not designed to be permanent displays.
