Katikati juniors show way for club seniors

The Katikati year 5/6 team travelled to Bethlehem College to take on the Pillians Point Cobras. A great bowling performance from Shiv Ravji taking 3 wickets and a catch to Thomas Bing saw the Cobras held to 60 runs off their 20 overs. Katikati chased the runs down with Gitaz Baidwan and Thomas doing some big hitting.

Katikati’s Intermediate team played the Otumoetai Cadets Girls 2nd XI at the Uretara Domain. Katikati batted first and Miller Kaczon (25) and Shreya Patel (11) both retired unbeaten, as did Keshav Kumar 12 and Jordan Hughes 16, with the team making 152. The Cadets side made 102 with Kaleb Edwards and Xavier Daidge taking 3 wickets each.

All Katikati’s senior teams were on the wrong side of the results board over the weekend. The Senior Reserves were short some regular players and had to call on the legendary Steve Gilroy, who led the fielding highlights package. Steve’s son Blake took 3 wickets in trying to remove the United Indians’ wagging tail. The score book reading ‘Bowled B Gilroy caught S Gilroy’ twice will no doubt be long remembered in the family.
