Lions love what they do — serving others

That’s what the Milton Lions Club president and member Richard McElrea says

Lions Club members are ordinary people from all walks of life who enjoy getting together and doing good things. They are kind and generous people who are always around and want to help.

It is estimated Lions Clubs contribute more than $100million each year for charitable organisations throughout their communities and the country.

‘‘We like to do a bit of everything, no matter what it is. We’re always looking to help, and we’re also looking for people who are interested in joining to help,’’ Mr McElrea said.

Whether it be raising some money for the local schools, or donating through the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) to places across the world like Ukraine, the Milton Lions do it all.

‘‘People may think we’re just an old white man’s club, but we’re really not.

‘‘We’re so much more than that, and we appreciate everyone in our community,’’ Mr McElrea said.

The Milton Lions love what they do. They provide out of their own willingness and proudly serve their community of Milton.

‘‘A noticeable thing about us is small communities run on service clubs. That’s why we put in the effort to make sure our community is supported in every aspect,’’ Mr McElrea said.

Selling firewood, catering for events, celebrating long life members of their club, spreading positivity and awareness, general assistance and kindness are not even close to the countless services the Milton Lions provide for their community.
