Last year, Marist played its first night game of rugby at Miller St, Invercargill, under the club’s new lights

Further developments are in the pipeline at the club after Invercargill Marist was named one of 10 rugby clubs from throughout the country to receive $30,000 worth of Bunnings Warehouse products, materials and trade support to help with improving their facilities for the benefit of the women’s game.

The club had four senior teams this season and will likely have 14 junior teams that include plenty of girls.

The premier team will be coached by Marty Smith and Scott Eade. Keanu Kahukura has moved in from the wing to centre and has the captain’s role.

The Marist premier side had a tough 2022 campaign, but they did have several young players in their first year out of school who will be stronger this year for that experience.
