How things have changed from the 1940s to 1970s when the majority of our members attended high school

Lots of memories surfaced of things that happened in our times at school, but only the hall remains from our days there — although it has been upgraded and looks very attractive.

We found the photos on the wall of past principals interesting.

The homecraft wing as we knew it is still in the same place, but all upgraded to present-day standards.

Our school hall in our day was used for almost everything. School assembly started every school day in the hall and then all the school wooden forms had to be packed up and put under the stage so the hall could be used for physical education. No special gymnasium in our day.

The one and only piece of sports equipment remembered by most of us was an oblong wooden box that everyone was expected to jump over.

Each class had to clamber under the stage and drag the dreaded box out to the middle of the hall — regardless of whether you had short legs or long legs, we were all expected to leap over this box at full height.

Cooking and sewing rooms are certainly different now, although they are both still in the same building.

When most of us started high school in the third form, we had to make our own navy romper sports pants and blue shirts which were always worn for the three physical education days per week.

Some members really enjoyed the art room and spent some time there wishing that they could return to school and take part in modern-day classes. They were amazed at the artwork...
