Schools battle it out for relay cups

The athletic club has been running this event since 1953 and this year it will celebrate 70 years. It was a fantastic afternoon and great to see the kids come together to compete in this community event

Results:

Girls’ B Grade: 1 South School, 2 Norsewood 3, Huia Range.

Boys’ B Grade: 1 Ruahine, 2 South School, 3 Huia Range.

Girls’ A Grade (Forbes): 1 Ruahine, 2 St Joseph’s, 3 Huia Range.

Boys’ A Grade (Tippett): 1 South School, 2 Huia Range, 3 Ruahine.

The club’s Wednesday night meets have also had a few cancellations due to a wet term 4, but this did not stop children from joining the club this season.

We have had over 170 registrations, one of our biggest yet. This is all due to our fantastic parent helpers, junior coaches, and an enthusiastic committee.

The 2-6-year-olds had their prizegiving on December 14 but the 7 years-plus will continue through to term one 2023.

Three DHS students have been volunteering for the past couple of years: Ella Hogan, Rylee Murphy and Emma Bray.
