Another excellent turn out of 42 veteran golfers to play the Robin Hocking Trophy (team event) played on the Centennial Course.

The new format we have of using the white and yellow tees for juniors and seniors is proving very popular. We had two visitors today, Bruce Perkins and Barry King and we do hope you enjoyed your golf.

Results: 11 teams of four or three.

Stableford scores: 1st Too Much Fun — Kevin Hughes, John Roberts, Lou McCauley and Peter Coles. 2nd Dave’s team — Dave Mansell, Barry Hickling, Graham Woodcock and Bob Burns. 3rd Dream Team — Gorden Harvey, Barry King, Warwick Coventry and Brian Macken.

Gross: Senior 21 under handicap: 79 Kevin Hughes, 83 Bob Burns, 85 Barry King (visitor from Stratford). Junior: 94 Craig Greenwood, 83 Bob Burns.

Approaches: Senior 21 under: Bob Burns third shot on nine. Junior 22 over: Richard Brooker second shot on 18. Twos: Hayden Baker and Brian Macken on 6, Rex Mathieson on 12. Top Dogs: Roger Menzies and Tony Rutledge beat Ted Swanney and Tony Seavill. Selwyn McLennan and Brian Macken are next on the block. Bottle-O Voucher: Bruce Perkins (visitor).

Senior Vets Nine Holes Tauhara: 16 David Mayne, 15 Dermont Grainger.

CNI on Friday at Tokoroa. We play Kinloch on November 12.

The AGM is on November 17.

Next week November 3 on Tauhara, a full day will be partly sponsored by Husk Halligan and Tremains. November 10 Stableford on Tauhara-Len Murphy sponsored by Central Motor Group.

Tūrangi Veterans

After a wet start to the day on Tuesday, October 26, a few hardy people played the last day of the Race to November. 1st Dennis Butterworth 17, 2nd Andre Brown 16, 3rd Kevin Giles, Suzanne Laing 14. This means Diana Pye, Dennis Butterworth, Leo Videbeek and Tom Rihia will play in the final.

Weekday Women

Last week the midweek ladies played a pink ball teams event on the Tauhara course. Coming in first, with a stableford of 38, was the team of Pam Upchurch, Yvonne Raureti-Carson and Sharon Bertram and they were closely followed by Jenny Cory, Sheryl Painter and Colleen Wade who scored 36. 3rd...
