THUMBS UP AND DOWN

Published date14 January 2021
■Thumbs up and thank you to the three people from Taupo for helping us replace a flat tyre as we left Taupo for Napier on Sunday, January 3. It was an amazing gesture, so very appreciated.

■Thumbs up to Taupo District Council for the sensible, good looking, easy to navigate, flowing, safer new roundabout in town. A great decision to not put in traffic lights, which are a only a nuisance.

■Thumbs up to the brave and quick thinking man who stopped his vehicle on Taharepa Rd on Saturday, January 9 after he saw two dogs rush across the road and begin attacking a cocker spaniel on a lead. This young man grabbed the two dogs by the scruff of their necks, held onto them and told me to run. I was so thankful he had stopped to help. Thank you so, so much. I hope they didn’t turn on you. You are an absolute life saver!

■Thumbs up to Sergeant Trevor of Taupo Police and his colleague (sorry can’t remember her name due to my trauma). They had a job to do under section 109 of the Mental Health Act but treated me with compassion and respect and followed their protocols with my best interest at heart. I was looked after well despite being in great distress and I got a ride home in a highway patrol car returning to his routine patrol. I had to wait but was kept fully informed all the time. Great service and please everyone respect our police force, they are there to help.

■Thumbs up and congratulations to Taupo Racing Club for organising such a happy, fun race meeting on December 30.

■Thumbs up to the three members of Taupo Fire Service who promptly answered a call when our neighbours’ fire alarm was causing problems. They checked that all was in order and replaced alarms with up to date models, well done guys.

■Thumbs up and a big thank you to the lovely helpful staff and the great service provided by Stu Tipping Carpentry, A & T Glass, Midway Flooring, Mt Ruapehu Group. You helped our recent renovation go so smoothly.

■Thumbs up to Anita Westley at Family & Financial Solutions. Amazing lady, highly recommended.

■Thumbs up to Monsignor Trevor Murray, Margaret Beck and all her team members for an awesome community lunch. This service is provided every Tuesday at the Catholic Church and it is such a pleasure to attend and see all the smiling faces and the good food. The Christmas lunch was celebrated on Tuesday, December 15 and was excellent. God bless you all!

■Thumbs up to the man from TDS who dropped what he was doing to install new number plates on my car. Really...
