Their new school shoes can be sports shoes

Oamaru Sports and Outdoors has just taken delivery of its latest range — Diadora school shoes. The famous sports brand has channelled all its research on the human foot, its motion and protection into what looks like an ordinary black school shoe.

So it meets all the school uniform rules while giving the wearer the benefits of high-performance active footwear.

That’s great for growing feet, and for feet that are doing loads of different movements every day.

‘‘It’s a good all-round shoe,’’ Oamaru Sports and Outdoors co-owner Richard Hill says.

It would be suitable for children from years 4 to 13, he says.

When winter sports start up again, there will also be a selection of Diadora rugby and football boots at Oamaru Sports and Outdoors.

Younger children needing new shoes for term 1 can choose from the full range of Asics in the shop. Some styles are lace-ups and others have Velcro fastenings, so families can find what works for their children’s ages and stages as well as the colours they like best.

A backpack is an essential item for school pupils. They will need one with enough room for their books, clothing, and lunchbox, and it should also sit comfortably on their shoulders and distribute its weight correctly.

An ill-fitting backpack, or one not worn properly, can lead to sore muscles, stooping, or listing to one side.
