Valley Karaka has sent a huge message to the other teams in the competition

It put on a dominant display against the previously unbeaten Athletic side and came away with a 53-15 win.

Valley Karaka’s coach, Mikayla Cleveland was away at the weekend so Abbey McKenzie coached the side.

She was pleased with how it performed, particularly in the second half.

“We were a bit slow to get going, but in the second half we played to our strengths and were less hesitant with the ball.

“The team is really starting to put what we are doing at training into the game and they are seeing the rewards from that.’’

She highlighted the performance of Kara Cox as a real standout.

“[She] had a great outing out at GA and gained some crucial ball on defence and combined well with Brytnee Firman.

Whitney Cleveland’s vision to “look long and feed her shooters” was also impressive, she said.
