There are four par 4 holes on the Waihi course, and it seems rare for this feat to be scored on this particular hole, so well done, Krissie.

■Vets: At last, a nearly perfect Monday weather-wise for the Vets section to compete in the first round of the annual par competition. A great field of 54 players enjoyed the fast drying course and, in the end, a bit of parental dominance came into play. Denise Morgan, who is quite a new golfer, was leading the field up until the very last players came in, and then her father, Graham Jenkins, came in and pipped her by one to win! Family rivalry at its best. Results were Graham Jenkins +3, Denise Morgan and Daryll Denyer +2, Anke Hermannsdorfer, Kristine Gascoigne, Allen Sarjant, Peter Wright, Dot Ramsey, and Vince Jones all finished square with the card.

■Nine hole: The nine hole section also enjoyed a fine day, and in the ladies stableford competition, division 1, Helen Brady, won on a countback from Glen Bennett with 17 points, ahead of Lorraine Meyer and Margaret Meldrum, both on 15. In division 2, Julia Nicolson with 15 points was first, followed by Jenni Mora and Elaine Goodwin on 14. In the men’s competition, Terry Paterson and Norm Sanderson both finished with 15 points, ahead of Garth Pritchard (13).

■Wednesday ladies: A field of 26 ladies enjoying the conditions, contested the nett haggle this week. And it is no surprise that Kristine Gascoigne took out the top spot with a nett 69, although it was on a countback from Michelle Libby with the same score. Next was Carol Leary with 70, followed by Sarah Tomsett and Jenny O’Dwyer, both with 71, and Helen Baynes 72. The Dreamers Player of the Week is Kristine Gascoigne with her nett 69.
