■ SARJEANT GALLERY OPERATIONS UPDATE

No education classes will occur at Sarjeant on the Quay until level 1 and suitable distancing can be guaranteed. In the meantime, the Sarjeant’s educational resources will continue to be provided online.

The Sarjeant’s object gallery above the i-Site will remain closed until we are in level 1, and no events will be held at 38 Taupo Quay until we have reached alert level 1.

■ SMALL TALKS

What: Speakers are Lisa Rewiti, Mel Hawkins, Kirsty Morton, Debra Smith, Tess Dwyer, Wen Xiong, Greg Eiseman, Karen Wrigglesworth, Graham Dack and Mia Perkins. Proceeds to benefit Bason Botanic Gardens.

When: Wednesday, October 13. Doors open at 6.30pm to start at 7pm.

Where: Bayleys, Wicksteed St.

Details: Pre-purchased tickets are only $15 or $20 at the door. Every dollar goes to the charity.

What: “Hearts open to the world” is the call of the Gospel; why did we ever feel we had to turn away “from the world”?

■ DVD EVENING

What: Ride Like a Girl. As a little girl Michelle Payne dreams of the impossible: winning the Melbourne Cup – horse racing’s toughest 2-mile race. Together with the love of her father and her brother Stevie, Michelle overcomes impossible odds for a shot at her dream. The rest is history.
