Women’s club to help rescue trust

Southland Women’s Club president Lorraine Stephens said the club would open its doors for the mid-day concert once again

‘‘We have done this for the community every year since late 1998.

‘‘Unfortunately last year it didn’t happen because of Covid,’’ she said.

Each year the concert was known to draw near-capacity crowds.

It was hoped the $10 cover charge would raise between $500 and $1000 for the trust.

A bevy of talented Southland soloists, pianists, a ukulele group and a choir have been lined up to entertain lunchtime crowds.
