Ken Aldred moved to New Zealand from the United Kingdom in January 2002. He is an international security analyst working from his home base in Napier. His main areas of interest relate to international security organisations with a particular focus on NATO, arms control, systems of government, and the interrelationship of citizenship and security issues. In pursuit of those interests Ken was secretary-general of the United Kingdom government-funded 'Peace through NATO' organisation, director of the UK Council for Arms Control, and also director of the British Council for Education in World Citizenship. He has written and lectured extensively in these specialist areas. In 1994 he was appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire.
