On 29 September Wang Genhua, deputy chief of mission and minister counsellor of the Chinese embassy, addressed a meeting in Dunedin on 'China and the Asia-Pacific Region'.

NZIIA executive director Hamish McDougall attended the 'Second International Session for the Indo-Pacific' in Paris from 3-8 October. Organised by the Institut des Hautes Etudes de Defense Nationale (IHEDN) and Direction de la Cooperation de Securite et de Defense (DCSD), the session was attended by 42 delegates from across the Indo-Pacific region.
