Institute Notes: national office and branch activities.

With the Institute of Policy Studies, the NZIIA held a seminar on `Prospects for Indonesia' on 17 October. Presentations were made by Michael Green of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Susanto Sutoyo, the Indonesian Ambassador in New Zealand.

On 26 October, a function was held at the Australian High Commission to launch the NZIIA's latest publication, the collected papers of the seminar at Victoria University of Wellington in July: New Zealand and Australia -- Where are we Going? The Director, Bryce Harland, paid tribute to the work of the chairman of the Research Committee, Bruce Brown, who edited the papers.

4 Dec Dr Bates Gill (Director Centre for North-east Asian Policy Studies and Senior Fellow, Foreign Policy Studies, The Brookings Institution, Washington), `US-China Relations under the Bush Administration'. (This meeting was held in conjunction with the Office of Public Affairs at the US Embassy, Wellington, and the Centre for Strategic Studies.)
