"We are only going to milk once a day, probably at 5.30am

Milking is my thing," she said.

"Milking is not my thing!" Shane said.

They will be milking a mixed breed herd of 150 cows.

"We have bought in 15 Ayrshire and nine Guernsey - but don't tell anyone that!" Shane said.

They plan on running bulls for mating this year while they focus on getting production up.

"The place isn't big enough to raise young stock on," Shane said.

The 140ha property has a 90ha eff ective milking platform with the rest in native bush.

The couple has worked together before so they are enjoying farming together.

"She's 'Fred' on the farm so if she cops it, when we get home, she's back to being my wife and we're talking again!" Shane said.

Their 17-year-old daughter has joined them. She is currently looking for work.

Their 19-year-old daughter will be arriving soon and is looking for local opportunities as a vet technician. An older daughter is 24 and has just graduated with a law degree.
