Account cash can benefit Foxton

Held last Thursday at the Foxton Beach School, Russell gave a succinct account of the origins of the fund, which is money generated by property sold to the then county council by the Foxton Harbour Board when it was dissolved in the 1950s. In total the fund has $12-15 million worth of property, both land and buidings, and $5m in cash

The council has announced a review of this account. In October 2009 council decided the cash amount must not go below $5m once that amount was reached, a policy those who attended this meeting would like council to maintain.

Money from this account can be spent on services that benefit the Foxton Beach community and have recently gone to the fire brigade, for a utility vehicle, to the surf life saving club as a contribution towards their refurbished building and the community centre for vehicles and a garage.
