Audiologist to offer hearing aid advice

Grey Power committee member Glenyss Jones said many older people had trouble managing their hearing aids.

‘‘I used to do caregiving and I found I was helping a lot of people with their hearing aids.’’

People would get hearing aids fitted but then would not know how to adjust them, Mrs Jones said.

‘‘When they put them on the next day it was too loud and they didn’t know how to fix it and so they shoved them in the drawer and refused to wear them.’’

Grey Power was a group which helped and advocated for older people so it made sense for it to provide an opportunity for people to find out more hearing loss and hearing aids, she said.

Mrs Jones had been wearing hearing aids for many years.
