Ex-members invited to 150th anniversary event Temuka Volunteer Fire Brigade

The brigade will hold celebrations at Labour Weekend to mark its 150 years

The call has gone out for all past members to sign up and come along to join the fun.

Chief Fire Officer Murray Blogg said planning and fundraising for the celebrations was under way.

It would be helpful for people to register now via the brigade’s Facebook page so it knew how many would be attending.

Events were likely to include a get together and an open day at the station.

The brigade has about 20 members, but was keen to enlist more people who are available during the day and for nighttime callouts, Mr Blogg said.

Mothers of school-aged children could volunteer to be rostered on until 3pm.

‘‘We’ve got a great bunch here — you get to meet a lot of nice people and do a lot of different activities.’’

Full and ongoing training would be provided.
