In New Zealand, Daylight Saving begins on the last Sunday in September, when we put our clocks forward one hour to GMT+13 and ends on the first Sunday of the following April, when we put our clocks back an hour to GMT+12. This year, the end of Daylight Saving is on Sunday at 3am

St Luke’s Anglican Church vicar the Rev Andrea McDougall said the church reminded their parishoners on their social media to put their clocks back manually, if necessary, but recalled a time when the phone companies did not always make the changes.

‘‘When I was curate in Auckland, a few decades ago, I was with a cellphone company that didn’t change the time automatically.

‘‘I’d promised the vicar to set up early service but arrived an hour late.

‘‘We had several services in the morning, so I arrived for one, but not the early one,’’ she says with a laugh.
