Lower grade Rangiora teams make finals

The Rangiora CBK division 1 men’s team booked a place in the 5/6 playoff game against University of Canterbury Spartans after a hard fought 1-0 win over Avon last weekend.

The two sides drew last time they met, so this should be a close encounter to be played at MainPower turf at 12.30pm on Saturday.

After losing to Hornby last weekend, the Rangiora CBK division 1 women will be looking to finish the season on a high in the 7/8 playoff against University of Canterbury Huns.

This game will be played at 11am on Saturday at MainPower turf.

Rangiora Rampage plays Southern United at MainPower turf on Saturday morning from 8.15am in the Kwik Sticks 7-a-side division 3 boys 5/6 playoff, while the Kwik Sticks 7-a-side division 5 girls team Rangiora Rebels also plays at 8.15am.

The best placed Rangiora Junior teams are the Rascals which will be playing the final of the Kwik Sticks 11-a-side girls against Harewood at Nga Puna Wai at 8.25am Saturday.

On Sunday Rangiora Korimako play in the Sunday super league (SSL) championship final against Waikirikiri Tuis from 2pm at Nga Puna Wai.

To reach the final Korimako had to account for an improving Rangiora Piwakawaka team last weekend, which wasn’t as easy as the 4-0 scoreline would suggest.

At MainPower Hockey Turf on Sunday Rangiora’s two SSL championship men’s teams will meet for bragging rights in their last game of the season.

Colts finished third on the table, just one point ahead of the Oddfellows, but with its last clash rained off and Oddfellows winning its earlier encounter it’s hard to pick a clear favourite ahead of this game.

In mid-week open men’s action Rangiora A has finished the regular season unbeaten and is odds on favourite to take the Division 2 crown up against Marist Gooses, which it comfortably beat a fortnight ago.

Rangiora Allsorts will play off against Harewood in the 5/6 playoff.

Rangiora Hurunui Hares ended the regular season at the top of division 1 in the mid-week open women’s competition and was playing off against Carlton Redcliffs for a finals spot as this report went to print.

The Rangiora Hurunui Hawks comfortably accounted for Southern United last week giving them the semi finals bye and a 5/6 playoff against the winner of the wooden spoon playoff next Tuesday night.
