Ms Davis grew up in Dunedin and obtained her private pilot licence in the 1990s, flying Otago Aero Club Cessna 152 aircraft

Her passion for aviation was sparked during family holidays in Central Otago, where her father took part in gliding events and she was allowed to sit in the passenger seat or in the tow plane.

‘‘My father, in the ’80s, had a glider and we would hang out at the Alexandra gliding champs and at the Jardines’ property near Lake Wakatipu. We would camp there and hang out and we just loved it.’’

Ms Davis began her working life as a photographer and at one stage had a studio in Moray Pl in Dunedin.

She continued working in the events industry when she moved to Wellington.

‘‘One thing led to another’’ and she took up an events role with the Wings Over Wairarapa air festival team at Masterton aerodrome, where Sir Peter Jackson’s collection of vintage military aircraft is housed.

During COVID, Ms Davis and her husband decided to return to the South Island and picked Clyde as their new home, where they are now renovating a concrete block crib.
