Thirty racers will take to the dirt in winged sprintcars — the fastest speedway cars — in what will be a battle between youth and experience

The line-up reads like a who’s who of the sport, with 16-year-old sprintcar sensation Joel Myers jun, of the United States, and former New Zealand titleholder Rodney Wood among those pushing for a podium finish.

A seasoned campaigner and previous 1NZ, Woods has a stand-out racing career; no matter what a race throws up, he can come from behind to score the win. This time, his son, Cole, is also racing.

The younger Wood has raced well this season, and the goal is for both father and son to be on the podium.
