Paddon’s win claimed as a home victory

South Canterbury Car Club rally secretary Howard Atwill claimed Paddon’s win as a home victory.

‘‘He does live in Wanaka now but he’s still a member of the South Canterbury Car Club,’’ he said.

While Hunt hails from Nelson, Rawston also has South Canterbury roots, having grown up in Timaru.

Ten other competitors spread across seven cars were local in the field of 87 registered cars.

Eighty-four cars started and 66 finished.

There were no major casualties in the event, which ended at Levels Raceway and was followed by a presentation dinner at Caroline Bay Hall.
