Rangiora central business site for sale

The high profile site in Rangiora’s central business district, at 70 to 74 High Street, on the Ashley Street corner, is being sold by the Waimakariri District Council and marketed by Noel Gilchrist and Nick Doig of Colliers

The council bought the property in 2014 to do road realignment at the intersection and now wants to sell the remaining land and buildings.

The land area covers 2002 square metres in two titles and includes a 451 square metre building, leased by the BNZ, fronting High Street.

The building, built in the 1960s, has been strengthened to about 100% of the new building standards.

The lease expires on April 30, 2023 and there are no rights or renewal.

However, a spokesperson for the BNZ says the bank intends to ‘‘keep our lease’’.

‘‘Whatever happens beyond the term of the current lease is dependent on who buys the site and their plans for it,’’ the spokesperson says.

Waimakariri District Mayor Dan Gordon says the sale of BNZ corner is an exciting opportunity for the Waimakariri District.
