April 2 was coring of the greens at Fairview so we played a fun 18 holes at Walton Golf Course followed by late lunch in Matamata. Thank you to Terri Heyes for arranging the day and congrats to the winners of the stableford with hidden partners competition

April 8 was the third and final round of Association Pennants at Te Puke Golf Course. We finished a pleasing second equal with Omokoroa. Congratulations to our team for the day of Terri Heyes, Joan Irwin, Lynn Cuming, Chris Johnston, Alison Kennard and Carol Bones. Congratulations to all those who represented Fairview over the other two rounds.

April 9 was round two of area stableford.

Diana Jopling was the winner followed by Cheryl Hobin and Lesley Rayner all on 38 points.

Next was Jill Austin with 37 followed by Rosalie Wrathall and Merle Mason both with 36 points. Next were Karen Crosby and Jude McCashin with 35 points.

Ann Crawford and Jude McCashin had twos.

Waihī Golf Club

The Waihī Vets annual two-day Sommerset tournament was held on Monday and Tuesday last week. This popular tournamentattracted a field of 80 players, with visitors competing from 16 other clubs.

On Monday early drizzle thankfully cleared away to a fine day, but some heavy overnight and morning rain on Tuesday changed the conditions, with the summer run all but being eliminated, and the scores being subsequently lower. The tournament was played in three divisions, and thanks to the sponsors and the generosity of many local businesses an impressive prize table was on offer.

The overall top players were for the men Alex Standfield with a total nett of 144, while the best Lady was Rachel Yoo (Paeroa) with 140 nett. In Division One Nett, Alex Standfield was first, with Daryll Denyer R/u. Division Two, Rachel Yoo (Paeroa) 1st, Denise Morgan R/u. Division Three, Adrienne Lynch 1st, Sharon Deacon R/u. The Stableford results were, Division One, Anke Hermannsdorfer 1st, Allen Smith R/u. Division Two, Kaylene Crocker 1st, Baxter Fagan (Taupo) R/u. Division Three, Barbara Handley (Tieke) 1st, Eddie Bruce R/u.

Fairview vet ladies

It was a net and putting round on April 8 with 18 ladies teeing off on a real warm autumn day. The scores reflected this with the winner Diana Jopling finishing on 29 net, closely followed by Ros Robson 30, Jude McCashin, Susannah Starkie and Ann Crawford all with 32, Sheila Logan, Marilyn Payne, Merle Mason and Lois Fahey 33.
