Strong season start for Edendale

The club is the envy of many, with plenty of players including six players making their senior debut this year: prop Jacob Waide, flankers Coebie Symes and Rayden Todd, blindside Arden Knapp, fullback Hunter Richards and wing Josh Read

This year’s team is again coached by former players Jeroe Fodie and Casey McEwan. The team is training hard and there is competition for starting spots.

The Magpies first game was won 33-14 against the reigning champions, Tokanui. Blindside flanker Arden Knapp was man of the match in his debut game for the club. Halfback Connor Millane and first five Bram Fodie were also key contributors to the bonus-point victory.

Fodie was playing his 150th match for the Magpies when they won their round two game 37-22 in Te Anau.

Captain Matt Ward was man of the match for his work in the second row, while Hunter Richards made an impressive debut at fullback. Richards has trained with the senior squad since he was 10 years old.

Edendale put together another good performance at home to beat Pioneer 27-15.
