Tiny trucks and massive rigs ready to roll into town

Secretary Rhonda Wilson said a record 130 trucks entered the show last year and they hoped to break the record again this year

‘‘The show has come a long way since it started as a small display in the late 1970s. It’s very exciting for our small team of eight.’’

The show is an impressive display of rigs big and small, which are judged on a variety of criteria, and is followed by a parade.

People can view the trucks from 9am at Transport Repairs in Falconer Rd before the parade starts at 2pm.

The trucks then go up Main St before looping back down to Transport Repairs.

Shuttles will be available to take people to the prizegiving at Croydon Lodge at 4.30pm.

A new section for the parade has been introduced for trucks that wish to be in the parade but not judged in the display.

‘‘After prizegiving is a buffet dinner, which was introduced last year at Croydon Lodge, and there is a band to follow it,’’ Mrs Wilson said.

This year’s show is a celebration of 100 years of Kenworth trucks.

‘‘We will put all the Kenworth trucks together ... all the Kenworth trucks will leave the yard together.’’

The show will have familiar favourites too, including the model truck show introduced in 2021.

‘‘We accept a variety of models including plastic, wood or even Lego.
