Trust provides $170K to community groups

The trust provides funding grants to not-for-profit community groups and projects that make a positive contribution to the region

Operational grant requests up to $15,000 were considered, with 27 applicants being successful, and a total of a little more than $170,000 was granted.

In Temuka, Puss N Boots kitty rescue received $3000 for operational costs, including vets’ fees to support the work it does with kitten and cat rescues and neutering.

In the Mackenzie district, the John Anderson Arboretum Trust was granted just over $11,000 for arboretum planting and maintenance.

In the Waimate district, the Waimate Golf Club was granted $3000 towards course fertiliser and chemicals, and Positive Waimate was granted nearly $2000 for insurance.

In Timaru, Te Aitarakihi Society Inc received $10,000 to subsidise cultural competence training for charities and not-for-profits.

YMCA Mid and South Canterbury was granted $10,000 towards the cost of leasing a new Y Space for services for young people.

Volunteering Mid and South Canterbury received $10,000 for operational costs, and the Life Education Trust was given $12,000 for its educator’s salary.

South Canterbury Neighbourhood Support and the South Canterbury Stroke Club both received $5000 for wages.
