The team planted 25 King Alfred daffodil bulbs per square metre, along a 3m×90m strip at the Beaumont highway entrance to the town

The group hopes to do the same in other parts of the gold-rush centre.

‘‘We were knocked back for funding when we applied to council so we did it ourselves,’’ co-organiser Rachel Taylor said. ‘‘It’s grassroots community taking responsibility for our own beautification.’’
