Enviro evening a ‘night of inspiration’

Organiser Sandra Campbell said there was so much positive feedback after the first evening that she felt she had to organise another to keep all the great ideas and motivation going in the community.

‘‘Covid stopped us revisiting it last year but now we can continue on our journey and invite all interested parties back for another night of inspiration and empowerment.

‘‘Last time, 190 women came along to the evening workshop and many were inspired to go ahead and take control of their environmental policies around their farms, to adopt environmentally sustainable farming practices and to take a stand against mismanagement of their resources,’’ Mrs Campbell said.

One of those was Camille McAtamney, of Clydevale, who adopted two ideas discussed during the evening.

‘‘Firstly, I became more active in the community, looking closer at our water ecology.

‘‘I became more involved in the water catchment group in the area, eventually taking up the reins of secretary at the Otago-Southland River Catchment Group to see how others were managing their water resources, and then I also helped set up, and became the secretary of, the Otago Catchment...
