Perhaps there was some jet lag at play as the Ice Blacks coughed up a goal after just 2min 26sec.

They were still trailing 1-0 early in the second period when Jacob Carey, assisted by West Auckland Admirals defenceman Alexander Regan, grabbed the equaliser.

It was a first goal in national colours for the Canberra-based 18-year-old forward.

The game might have been in the balance at 1-1 heading into the final period, but the Ice Blacks took command of proceedings.
