Support given in many different ways

The club has many dedicated, enthusiastic members who are always willing to lend a hand, whether it be through donations, fundraising or general assistance

Milton Lions Club member Richard McElrea said the Lions were an extremely supportive bunch of individuals who loved to raise money for their small community and the people in it.

‘‘We always have a lot of things going on at the Milton Lions — it’s our way of giving and providing for those who need it,’’ Mr McElrea said.

The Milton Lions have an annual Anzac Golf Tournament, which helps them collectively fundraise for their chosen community groups and projects.

‘‘This year we raised money for Tokomairiro High School, the Milton Community Hub and the youth of our district,’’ Mr McElrea said.

‘‘It was and always will be a successful event and we love putting ourselves up for a challenge of golf and providing a meal for the people who come along.’’

The Milton Lions have many other important annual projects they love to achieve, including selling large amounts of blue gum and pine firewood to give money to the youth and elderly whom they have deemed their focus for 2022.

They also have an annual Food Bank Drive, during which they travel throughout the district and collect donations for food banks. Last year they teamed up and travelled through both Milton and Waihola and had a successful event, in which they were proud of collecting for their local food banks.
