Their games have so far proven they are giving the start to the season a good go

They have the numbers they need and are developing a water-tight game plan.

The premiers are looking to continue to improve and continue to grow as the season progresses.

Southern Region Rugby’s social media has suggested Daniel Miller, Chris Chittock, Josh Huddleston and Sene Te’o as players to watch out for, but the entire team will be one to watch as the season ticks along.

Coaches have said they want to play positive rugby this season that their supporters will enjoy watching.

To achieve this, they will want to see a unified team that will work for each other and out work the opposition.

If they can achieve the above goal, then the results will follow, and anything is possible in front of what will hopefully be a packed Swamp Hen Park.

The junior side of Owaka rugby is booming with future rugby stars and the youngsters are fizzing for the new season.

Owaka has four teams this year, a year 1-2, a year 3-4, a year 5-6 and a year 7-8 combined team with Clutha’s juniors under the Clutha banner.

Owaka’s juniors are extremely lucky to have several coaches for each team.

The coaches are mostly parents who have children in the team, and have passions for getting the kids out playing some sport they all enjoy.

Their club day is on May 11, where juniors will start off games about 10.30am, and each team will play games until the premier game at 3pm, when the Swamp Hens will play Clutha Valley.
